Community Invited to Attend 2026 Hancock Fallen Officers Memorial Service

FINDLAY, OHIO — The community is invited to join local law enforcement agencies, families of the fallen, retirees, and community leaders for the 2026 Hancock Fallen Officers Memorial Service on Monday, May 11, at 6 p.m. at the Hancock Fallen Officers Memorial outside the Fort Findlay FOP Lodge #20, 1769 S. Romick Parkway in Findlay.

Held during National Police Week, the annual memorial service honors the lives and sacrifices of Hancock County law enforcement officers who gave their lives in service to their communities.

The ceremony will include the reading of names, ceremonial honors, reflection, and remarks from retired John DiPietro, retired Deputy Chief at Miami Township Police Department and a nationally respected leader in public safety and officer wellness.

“This service is an opportunity for our community to pause together in remembrance,” said Teresa White, director of the Fort Findlay FOP Lodge #20 Foundation. “We honor the fallen not only by remembering their sacrifice, but by supporting the officers who continue to serve our communities every day.”

Fort Findlay FOP Lodge #20 President Brian White said the visible support of the community carries tremendous meaning for active and retired officers alike.

“When officers see members of the community take time to stand beside them during Police Week, it matters more than most people realize,” White said. “Law enforcement can be a difficult and isolating profession at times. Seeing families, retirees, friends, and community members gather in support reminds officers that their service, sacrifice, and wellbeing are valued.”

This year’s observance comes during an especially difficult period for Hancock County’s law enforcement community, which has experienced multiple losses to suicide in recent years. Organizers hope the service serves not only as a memorial, but also as a reminder of the importance of officer wellness, peer support, and community support for first responders and their families.

The memorial service is free and open to the public.

Retired law enforcement officers remain an important part of the annual Police Week observances.
