On Monday, some sixth-grade teachers at Indian Lake Middle School noticed something you don’t see everyday at school.
Five yaks were spotted outside grazing on the south end of the school near County Road 91.
Turns out, the animals had escaped Hidden Nook Ranch about a mile away outside of Lewistown.
The owners showed up to take them home, and facilities directors Matt Hurley and Dustin Plikerd grabbed some gates and everyone corralled the animals into the trailer.
Some kids were outside for recess, but no students were anywhere close to the large animals.
You can check out more photos of the adventurous yak escapees on the Indian Lake Schools Facebook.
