The Findlay Police Department has announced the promotion of David Hill to the rank of Captain and Brooks Deidrick to the rank of Lieutenant. Both were officially sworn in Thursday morning by Mayor Christina Muryn.

Captain Hill is a graduate of Findlay High School and attended Owens Community College, where he earned his Basic Ohio Peace Officer Certificate. He has dedicated more than 34 years of service to the citizens of Findlay as a member of the Findlay Police Department.

Captain Hill began his career with the Findlay Police Department in 1992 as an Auxiliary Police Officer and was sworn in as a full-time Police Officer in March 1999.

Throughout his career, Captain Hill has served in a variety of assignments, including Field Training Officer, Bicycle Patrol Officer, and Crisis Management Team member. He has also held numerous leadership positions within the department, including FTO Supervisor, Crisis Management Team Leader, and Taser Instructor. He was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2005, and to Lieutenant in 2022, serving as the Special Services Lieutenant, and most recently as the Patrol Lieutenant.

Captain Hill was recognized as Officer of the Year in 2001. Beyond his departmental responsibilities, he has been actively involved in supporting law enforcement officers and their families through labor and fraternal organizations. He served as President of the Fort Findlay Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #20 for more than 10 years and as President of the FOP Lodge #20 Foundation from its inception through 2024. He also served as President of the local Ohio Police Benevolent Association union.
Captain Hill and his wife, Marcia, are proud parents of five children—two daughters and three sons.

Lieutenant Deidrick is a graduate of Findlay High School and attended Owens Community College, where he earned his Basic Ohio Peace Officer Certificate and an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. He is also a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division.

Lt. Deidrick joined the Findlay Police Department in 2011 and has served the community in a variety of roles throughout his career. He has worked as a Field Training Officer and as a member of the department’s Crisis Management Team.

In addition to these assignments, Lt. Deidrick has held several leadership positions within the department, including Crisis Management Team Commander, Honor Guard Commander, and Senior Range Officer. He was recognized as Officer of the Year in 2020 and was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2021.
