(COLUMBUS, Ohio) —Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik yesterday announced the approval of 13 projects that will create 3,553 new jobs, retain 907 jobs statewide, and result in more than $1.1 billion in investments across Ohio.
During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The projects are expected to result in nearly $310 million in new payroll.
CENTRAL
Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc., and Burns & McDonnell Corporate Services, Inc., expects to create 45 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $3.6 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2029, as a result of the company’s project in the city of Columbus (Franklin County). Burns & McDonnell is an engineering, architecture, planning, and construction firm serving the water, power, transportation, aviation, and manufacturing sectors. The proposed project involves relocating into a larger office space in downtown Columbus. TCA approved a 1.343 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
John W. Danforth Company expects to create 80 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $8 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2030, as a result of the company’s project in the city of Dublin (Franklin County). Danforth specializes in providing engineered mechanical solutions in the commercial, sports & entertainment, industrial, healthcare, higher education and K-12, government, and advanced technology manufacturing markets. The proposed project involves leasing a new 50,000-square-foot facility that would allow the company to increase manufacturing and operational capacity. TCA approved a 1.571 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Onda USA LLC expects to create 100 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $6.7 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2029, as a result of the company’s project in the city of Delaware (Delaware County). Onda is a subsidiary of Wieland, one of the world’s leading suppliers of semi-finished copper and copper alloy products for automotive, electronics, refrigeration, air conditioning, and other industries. The proposed project involves Onda expanding its manufacturing capabilities by leasing a new 100,000-square-foot manufacturing space to increase production due to increased demand. TCA approved a 1.407 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Westerman, Inc. expects to create 210 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $13.3 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2030, as a result of the company’s project in the village of Bremen (Fairfield County). Westerman is a manufacturer of metal storage tanks and transport containers for the oil & natural gas, water, nuclear, and data center industries, specializing in high-pressure vessels for challenging environments. The proposed project involves an expansion of the company’s existing manufacturing operation to accommodate growth in data center and nuclear product lines. TCA approved a 1.644 percent, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Westerman, Inc. expects to create 135 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $8.4 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2029, as a result of the company’s project in the village of Hebron (Licking County). Westerman is a manufacturer of metal storage tanks and transport containers for the oil and natural gas, water, nuclear, and data center industries, specializing in high-pressure vessels for challenging environments. The proposed project will be entirely dedicated to the production of nuclear transport and storage equipment, and production at the new facility will serve the growing domestic nuclear supply chain. TCA approved a 1.486 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
NORTHEAST
ProVia Payroll LLC expects to create 400 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $27 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2030, as a result of the company’s project in the city of Dover (Tuscarawas County). ProVia is a manufacturer of exterior building materials focused on the residential market, including high-quality entry door systems, energy-efficient windows, super polymer vinyl siding, artfully-crafted manufactured stone, and stamp steel roofing. The proposed project entails the acquisition of a LEED-certified building to accommodate new production associated with strong market demand for high-quality custom replacement windows. TCA approved a 1.796 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
NORTHWEST
Arc Solutions, LLC and Novamatiq, Inc., expect to create 65 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $5.3 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2029, as a result of the company’s project in the village of Hicksville (Defiance County). Arc Solutions and Novamatiq engineer and build custom robots, automation machines, and welding supplies serving many industries, including automotive and advanced manufacturing facilities. The proposed project involves the expansion of Arc Solutions’ Ohio operations and the consolidation of Novamatiq’s operations, which were previously in Indiana. TCA approved a 1.314 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Luxorion Plastics LLC expects to create 60 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $4.3 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2029, as a result of the company’s project in the village of Leipsic (Putnam County). Luxorion is an industrial manufacturing company that builds burial products using eco-friendly materials for cemeteries. The proposed project involves siting a new facility for an expansion of the company’s current manufacturing capabilities. TCA approved a 1.395 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
SOUTHWEST
BEEHIVE INDUSTRIES, LLC expects to create 200 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $28 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2030, as a result of the company’s project in Miami Township (Clermont County), city of Blue Ash (Hamilton County), city of Loveland (Hamilton County), and village of Lockland (Hamilton County). Beehive Industries powers American defense through additively enabled jet propulsion systems, producing jet engines for unmanned defense applications, castings, casting core shells, and 3D-printed parts for the aerospace and energy industry. The proposed project involves the expansion of its research and development facility, the expansion of its precision machining, forging, and casting facilities, and the addition of a new 100,000-square-foot existing building to support engine production stemming from growing military demand and contracts. TCA approved a 1.972 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
KDM Signs, LLC expects to create 121 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $6.1 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2029, as a result of the company’s project in the village of Evendale (Hamilton County). KDM provides printing and finishing services, point-of-purchase displays, custom fixtures and store décor, branding assistance, and logistics & distribution support. The proposed project involves a business that has called Cincinnati home for more than 50 years. Company consolidation is being considered, and if Cincinnati is chosen, KDM would increase capacity within the market and look to expand operations. TCA approved a 1.303 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
VGP Holdings LLC expects to create 54 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $10.4 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2029, as a result of the company’s project in the city of Cincinnati (Hamilton County). Valvoline Global is the creator of the world’s first branded motor oil serving various industries, including the automotive, commercial, and industrial sectors. The proposed project involves the company relocating its headquarters from out of state to Cincinnati. TCA approved a 2.000 percent, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
WEST-CENTRAL
Electra.aero, Inc. expects to create 1,975 full-time-equivalent positions, generating nearly $181.5 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2035, as a result of the company’s project in Green Township (Clark County). Electra.aero, Inc. is an advanced aerospace company developing and manufacturing a hybrid-electric, Ultra Short Takeoff and Landing aircraft. The proposed project involves the company creating its first production and assembly facility in the U.S. for its EL9 hybrid-electric aircraft. TCA approved a 2.227 percent, 30-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Vicente Torns Ohio Corp. expects to create 108 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $7.1 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2030, as a result of the company’s project in the village of West Liberty (Logan County). Vicente Torns is a third-generation, family-owned company with more than 100 years of operating history that manufactures copper and aluminum cables and wires supporting customers in the energy, automotive, and transportation sectors. The proposed project involves the company acquiring an existing building, renovating and expanding that building, and adding new equipment to manufacture conductors used in electric transformers. TCA approved a 1.427 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
