Findlay, OH — The Hancock Historical Museum invites the community to celebrate the unveiling of a new public mural honoring the history, people, and enduring legacy of Hancock County. The unveiling ceremony will take place on Sunday, July 19, at 1:00 p.m. at Brucklacher Memorial Park, home of the Museum’s historic Little Red Schoolhouse.

Created as part of the nationwide America 250 celebration and painted entirely by the hand of local residents, the Hancock County History Mural serves as both a work of public art and a visual storytelling experience. The mural offers several interactive features designed to engage families and lifelong learners. Visitors can participate in a visual scavenger hunt by searching for hidden symbols woven throughout the artwork, with accompanying educational materials explaining how each symbol connects to Hancock County’s history. The mural also includes a designated photo opportunity where guests can step into the artwork, becoming part of the mural and part of Hancock County’s ongoing story.

The project is a collaborative effort between the Hancock Historical Museum, Awakening Minds Art, Visit Findlay, and Kiwanis, with generous funding provided through the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation. Together, these organizations have created a vibrant work of public art that reflects the community’s history and invites residents and visitors alike to discover the stories that have shaped Hancock County.

The unveiling celebration is free and open to the public. Remarks will start at approximately 1:00 pm. Refreshments will be provided following the unveiling, featuring Dietsch’s Brothers Ice Cream, Kona Ice, and the Front Porch Perfect. Attendees are also invited to tour the Museum’s historic Little Red Schoolhouse, which will be open following the ceremony.
