The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to support the renewal of a long-standing one mill levy on the May 6 ballot.
The county auditor estimates the levy will collect $677,000 annually, which equates to over 20% of the Sheriff’s Office entire budget.
The money supports the general operations of their office, including comprehensive law enforcement services, which is everything from loud music complaints and traffic violations to major crimes and everything in between.
Their tasks include service to the courts for both civil and criminal proceedings, and their budget also supports the operation of Central Dispatching for all emergency services in Hardin County including the villages of Ada, Forest and the City of Kenton.
The levy is specifically for the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.
The request is for a renewal of an existing levy funding, and no additional dollars are requested.
