The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board is applauding Bellefontaine Municipal Court Judge Jacob A. Estes’ recent decision to declare an Indigent Driver Alcohol Treatment surplus, calling it a significant step toward expanding behavioral health treatment and support in Logan County.

The IDAT Fund is designed to provide necessary treatment services for individuals convicted of operating a vehicle under the influence who cannot afford those services.

When surplus funds are available, courts have the opportunity to broaden their impact within the community.

Judge Estes worked with other officials to design specialized services that address unmet needs while remaining within the IDAT Fund guidelines.

This initiative demonstrates a proactive approach to improving access to behavioral health treatment and support.
