Earlier this week, the Kenton Fire Department conducted what is most likely the last weekly check of Engine 72.

Fighting fire in Hardin County since being delivered, Engine 72, a 1995 Ford built by E-ONE, was a frontline fire apparatus until 2015 when Engine 71 was purchased.

Even in recent years when other units have been out of service, Engine 72 has been the primary pumper for residential fires and a crucial support pumper.

It has remained a hardworking and reliable engine throughout its 31 years of protecting the citizens of Kenton and Hardin County.

A new truck with the same unit number is being delivered, and it will wear the same unit number.

Kenton firefighters noted that they are looking forward to this new chapter in the history of the KFD.
