
The Kenton Lions Club held its regular meeting recently at the Kenton Elks. The meeting was called to order at 6:31 pm by 1st Vice President Lion Tracy Anderson with 16 members and 1 guest present. Lion Tracy led the pledge and led the prayer. The meeting was adjourned for a meal and called back to order at 6:53 pm.
Guest Speaker for the evening was Tim Conkle, Founding member of the Scioto Junction Model Train Club. Tim spoke about the history of the International Car Company in Kenton that built rail cars and cabooses and later focused on only cabooses until closing its doors in the early 80’s. He shared the process of receiving the 1959’ caboose that was acquired from CSX in Marion and moved to the Hardin Historical Society property east of the Hardin County Fairgrounds.
Treasurer and Secretary Reports: Lion Todd Oates moved to accept both reports. After a 2nd by Lion Jason Van Buskirk, members voted. Motion Passed.
Committee Reports:
Pioneer Park – Lion Joe Burbacher led discussion on the status of the merry-go-round.
Veterans Banners – Lion Jason Van Buskirk says a date to change them out will be set after Nov. 11th.
The date and time for Bowling with Santa is set for Dec. 13th @ 2:00 pm.
Christmas Parade, Nov. 25th: Lion Judd Robinson asked for members to bring help for crowd control and led discussion about groups passing out candy.
Chicken Dinner Fundraiser: Lion Tracy Anderson thanked the following Lions for their help at the event: Lion Bill Keller, Lion President Brad Bailey, Lion Todd Oates, Lion Judd Robinson, Lion Joe Burbacher, Lion Dave Dulin, Lion Gary Whitmer.
Roadside Clean-up; Lion Bill Keller thanked Lions Dave Dulin, Daryl Flowers, and Bob Burbacher for their help on Oct. 13th.
The Meeting Adjourned at 8:07 PM, followed by the Lion’s Roar.
