Kenton Native Chloe Anderson Named Outstanding Senior At Ohio State

Chloe Anderson, of Kenton, Ohio, has been named a 2026 Outstanding Senior by the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership at The Ohio State University. Anderson, along with 12 other seniors, were selected by the faculty and staff of the department for her excellence both in and out of the classroom.  

“These 13 students have demonstrated exceptional leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to the agricultural industry throughout their time at Ohio State,” said Dr. Shannon Washburn, professor and chair of the department. “Being named an ACEL Outstanding Senior is a testament to their hard work and the impact they have made on our department and beyond.”

Anderson majors in agriscience education and minors in production agriculture. As an agriscience education major, Anderson has taken courses in welding, plant systems, youth development, animal sciences and more. 

Outside of the classroom, Anderson has been involved in the Agricultural Education Society, Collegiate 4-H, Alpha Zeta Partners, Towers Agricultural Honorary and Sigma Alpha Professional Sorority. 

Anderson also worked for New Leaf Lawn and Garden, Plant Nursery during her time at Ohio State. She worked with plants and educated customers on our products and plant care. This job cemented her passion for teaching and allowed her to learn something new every day. 

“As a high school student, I loved my agriculture program. My FFA advisor saw my passion and encouraged me to pursue my degree in agriscience education, which was the best decision I’ve ever made,” Anderson said.  

She will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science in agriculture. Following graduation, Anderson plans to become a high school agricultural educator. She is a graduate of Kenton High School and the daughter of Ann and Ryan Anderson. 

The agriscience education major at Ohio State prepares its students you to acquire a license to teach agricultural science in secondary high schools in Ohio and across the country, with extensive training in agricultural science, educational psychology, instructional methods, and youth development.
