Kenton Native’s New Technology Product, TickrCast, Launches on Kickstarter

KENTON- Joseph Capehart grew up in Kenton and graduated from Ridgemont High School. On September 1, 2026, the company he founded, Layered Ventures LLC, took his first product to a national audience on Kickstarter. TickrCast is a wall-mounted display that streams live sports scores, esports tournaments, weather, flight tracking and dozens of other live feeds.

Founder Joseph Capehart designed, built and tested it in the workshop behind his Findlay home, where a fifteen-printer commercial 3D print farm runs a few steps from the bench where the first TickrCast units were assembled by hand.

TickrCast connects to a home WiFi network and shows whatever its owner picks from a phone app. Feeds mix into a rotating ticker, so one display can carry a favorite team’s score, the weather, an incoming flight and a live esports bracket without anyone touching a computer. More than 75 live data integrations are available at launch, and the display updates its own software over the internet.

Capehart is a product leader in consumer electronics whose work has carried products onto a global stage, and who was recruited into the industry for a consumer-first approach to making complicated technology easy for anyone to use. He designed and built TickrCast alone, from the circuit board to the cloud platform behind it, and held it to that same standard: no soldering, no flashing, no configuration files, just a phone app. He is also a United States Air Force veteran who served in military logistics, the background behind his plan to get backer rewards out the door on time.

“I have spent my career making other people’s products simple enough that anybody could pick one up and use it, and getting them onto shelves around the world,” said Joseph Capehart, founder of TickrCast. “This is the first one that is mine end to end, down to the cases I printed in the barn out back, and I held it to the same rule. You plug it in, you open the app, you pick what goes on your wall. Nobody should need a soldering iron and a manual to hang a scoreboard. I also ran logistics in the Air Force, so I know exactly what it takes to get a box to somebody’s door on time.”

A national waitlist has been building ahead of the campaign.

The TickrCast Kickstarter campaign launched September 1, 2026 and runs through October 1.
