A Kenton Middle School student was able to attend Air Camp in Dayton this summer thanks to the Kenton Rotary and other financial supporters.

For a week in July, Josh Horton toured the Dayton Air Force Museum, visited Huffman Prairie Flying Field where Orville and Wilber Wright made over 100 early fights.

The participants also toured the Dayton Airport, where they observed several planes land from the control tower.

The group finished up the week by visiting the Green County Airport where members of the group were able to file a flight plan and go up in a Piper Cherokee aircraft where they tried their hand at some supervised fight time of their own.

Horton was selected from over 2,000 applicants as one of only 132 students in his weeklong adventure.

He earned the Top Flight Award for achievement, and the Spirit of Wright Award for overall top performance in his class.
