A Union County man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a five-year-old child, admitting to conduct that is both deeply disturbing and beyond understanding.

Robin Scott Atkinson, 64, of Marysville, entered a plea of guilty today in the Union County Court of Common Pleas to Rape of a Child Under 10. The guilty plea ensures that the victim and the victim’s family will not have to endure the trauma of testifying in court.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 19, 2025. Atkinson faces a potential prison sentence of life without parole or 15 years to life, and he will be required to register as a Tier III sex offender.

Atkinson, who had been free on a $250,000 appearance bond, requested that his bond be continued pending sentencing. The State moved to revoke his bond, and the Court agreed, ordering that Atkinson be remanded into custody. Deputies immediately took him from the courtroom to the Tri-County Regional Jail.

The abuse of a young child leaves scars that last a lifetime. There is no excuse, no justification—only accountability. Our office remains committed to seeking justice for victims of sexual assault, especially children. These crimes strike at the heart of every parent’s worst fear, and we will continue to fight for the safety of every child in Union County.

The case was investigated by Marysville Police Detective Anthony Lollini. Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Ohio State Highway Patrol Computer Crimes unit, and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation forensic laboratory all provided assistance in the investigation and prosecution.
