National Guard Unit Prepares for Deployment— Public ‘Call to Duty’ Ceremony Set for Tomorrow in Piqua

About 160 members of the Ohio Army National Guard’s 1487th Transportation Company, based in Piqua, Ohio, are deploying to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility in support of Operation Spartan Shield. 

The public is invited to attend a call to duty ceremony honoring the deploying Soldiers at 2 p.m., on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

The ceremony is set to take place at Piqua High School, located at 1 Indian Trail in Piqua.

While deployed, the unit will provide transportation assets and support to various units throughout the CENTCOM area of responsibility.

The unit’s previous deployments were in 2004-2005, 2012-13, and 2020-21.
