Ohio EPA Issues Air Quality Advisory as Canadian Wildfire Smoke Impacts State

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued an Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio due to smoke from Canadian wildfires.

The advisory begins at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, and warns that air quality may reach the “Unhealthy” range.

Sensitive groups, such as children, older adults, and individuals with certain medical conditions, are advised to avoid outdoor activities, while others should limit extended time outdoors.

The advisory will end once conditions improve.
