COLUMBUS – The Ohio Department of Veterans Services (ODVS), through its ongoing partnership with the Ohio Arts Council, continues to make preparations for the 2025 Ohio Veterans Art Exhibition, which will be on display in downtown Columbus this fall.

A veteran artist from central Ohio, our juror is …
Daniel J. King is an artist with a lens-based practice. His work has been exhibited in the U.S. and abroad, including the Richard M. Ross Art Museum at Ohio Wesleyan University; the Springfield (Ohio) Museum of Art; the Art + Literary Lab in Madison, Wisc.; the Bogota Experimental Film Festival in Colombia; the Split Film Festival in Croatia; the AntiMatter Media Arts Festival in Victoria, B.C.; and the Athens (Ohio) International Film + Video Festival. He is a teaching artist and U.S. Air Force veteran from Columbus, Ohio, working to bridge perceived divisions and advance creative approaches to social expression and connection.
As an interdisciplinary artist and educator with over two decades of experience across higher education, nonprofit organizations, and community-based initiatives, Daniel brings a wide-ranging and inclusive perspective to the jurying process. Through unique curatorial projects — such as the New Old Image Exchange, part traveling workshop and part collaborative exhibition — and a newly developing oral history project documenting the creative lives of veteran artists in Ohio, Daniel demonstrates a commitment to connecting historical and contemporary narratives through creative inquiry, evolving forms of storytelling, and exhibition design.
Over the course of nearly 15 years, Daniel has taught college-level studio art courses with institutions such as the Columbus College of Art & Design, Columbus State Community College, and Ohio University’s School of Art + Design, supporting creative growth, skill building, and professional practices through mentoring emerging artists. Since 2018, Daniel has been teaching creative writing focused workshops with the Veteran Artist Initiative at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Medical Center in Columbus.
