At a recent Kenton Rotary lunch, members heard from representatives of Otterbein Universal Home Health and Hospice Care.
Rotary President Frank Dudek presented a $562 check to the organization, part of the proceeds from the Kenton Rotary Christmas Auction.
Karen Schlinglof, Executive Director of Otterbein Universal Home Health and Hospice, spoke about common misconceptions surrounding hospice care. She explained that hospice is not just for cancer patients and emphasized that it can be considered when curative treatments are no longer effective and the focus shifts to comfort care.
Key takeaways from her presentation included that families can choose their own hospice provider, hospice care does not require a referral, and it is not expensive.
