Keep Hardin County Beautiful is pleased to present this month’s Business Beautification Award to Price McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton.

A drive through downtown Kenton makes it easy to appreciate the care and attention that has gone into this property. The updated gray siding, paved parking lot, attractive lighting, and welcoming flowerpots all contribute to a beautiful and inviting appearance. These improvements not only enhance the funeral home’s property but also complement the thoughtful design and ongoing revitalization of our downtown area.

During a recent conversation with John Price, he shared some of the rich history behind the funeral home and its connection to the community.  John’s father, Bill Price, owned and operated the funeral home for many years, guiding it through significant changes in the profession. As community needs and traditions evolved, so did the funeral home. In recent years, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic, funeral services have changed considerably from a multi-day remembrance then became a single-day visitation and service. More families are also choosing cremation, creating new ways for funeral homes to support loved ones in honoring and remembering those they have lost.  Through all these changes, Price McElroy Funeral Home has remained committed to serving the community with compassion, dignity, and care.

In 2014, Blake McElroy became part of the business by joining the funeral home and partnering with John as the business continued to grow and adapt to the changing needs of the families in Hardin County.  Together, they have carried forward a tradition of service while embracing new ways to meet the evolving needs of the community.  Their investment in both the funeral home and its appearance reflects a commitment not only to their profession but also to the continued vitality and pride of downtown Kenton.

Businesses like Price McElroy Funeral Home play an important role in the character of the community.  By maintaining an attractive, welcoming property and providing decades of dedicated service, they help create a sense of pride, stability and connection that benefits residents and visitors alike.  Keep Hardin County Beautiful is proud to recognize Price McElroy Funeral Home for its contributions to both the appearance and the spirit of our community.
