Northwest Ohio is coordinating a statewide effort to add approximately 1,400 truck parking spaces by late 2027.
Chris Hughes, ODOT District 1 deputy director, and a team in District 1, are leading the effort to address the lack of truck parking in the state and to begin construction of additional truck parking sites as soon as feasible.
Hughes said 33 sites in 17 counties were selected to advance to design and ultimately construction, and four contracts, grouped into regions, were awarded for the evaluation and design of the sites.
In northwest Ohio, 247 truck parking spaces will be added in Allen, Henry, and Wyandot counties.

The first sites in seven counties will be constructed in 2026, including at the U.S. 30 rest areas in Wyandot County where an additional 100 spaces, 50 on each side, will be constructed.
Construction will occur May 2026 through late 2027 in every region of the state.
The $150 million estimated cost of the projects is funded through the state transportation budget.
