Multiple fire departments battled a structure fire and a field fire Monday afternoon.
Richland Township and Rushcreek Township Fire Departments were first dispatched at around 12:45pm to the 600 block of Township Road 51.
Mutual assistance was requested from other units, and while they were in route, they were advised to respond to the 400 block of State Route 273 for the structure fire.
Upon arrival, fire was showing from the roofline around the gutter, and the fire was contained to the attic area.
After the fire was contained, an investigation was completed.
The fire was caused by a neighbor burning trash in a burn barrel with high winds and dry vegetation spreading through an adjacent field.
Assisting at the scene were fire departments from Huntsville, Richland Township, South East Hardin North West Union, Kenton, Bellefontaine and McGuffey.
Also on scene were BMRT Ambulance District, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, and Union County EMA.
