Teen Arrested After Bomb Threat Prompts School Bus Evacuation in Bellefontaine on Tuesday

A bomb threat on a school bus was investigated Tuesday in Bellefontaine.

According to a release from Bellefontaine Police Chief Christopher Marlow, at shortly after 3pm Tuesday afternoon, officers were dispatched to the area of the Bellefontaine City wastewater Treatment Plant on South Troy Road in reference to a bomb threat aboard a Bellefontaine City School bus.

It was reported that a male student announced that he had a bomb on his person.

The bus was safely evacuated, and the suspect, identified as 14-year-old Kehgan Basso, was taken into custody.

The evacuated students were quickly placed on a secondary bus and transported from the scene.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Columbus Bomb Squad responded and quickly determined that there was no active treat.

Troy Road was closed for a short time to secure the scene during the investigation.

Basso was transported to the Central Ohio Youth Center in Marysville and is being held on criminal charges related to the incident.
