Upper Scioto Valley Ambulance District recognized one of their EMT’s for giving the gift of life through living organ donation.
Robin LaRue has spent her entire EMS career running towards those in need and helping others on some of their worst days.
USV officials said that her commitment to serving others has always been remarkable, and this selfless act extends that compassion beyond her lifetime, and leaves a legacy that will impact countless lives.
LaRue’s daughter, Shelby Nelson, shared an update stating that her mother and the kidney recipient, Tiffany, who is also a friend of the family, are both doing great. In a post shared on Facebook, Nelson stated, “You don’t really think about organ donation until you are the one praying for it.”
According to OrganDonor.gov, more than 109,000 people in the United States are currently waiting for an organ transplant. As of July 30, 2026, 85% of those people were waiting on a kidney.
