MPD Reminds Motorists About 4 Phase Water Line Project

The installation of the new water line on Mount Vernon will span from the Vine Street/E Church Street/Mt Vernon Intersection to the Forest Lawn/Mount Vernon Intersection.

The project time frame is expected to span from Jan 1 to May 20, 2024.

The water line shall be installed in 4 Phases.

Phase 1 (Vine/East Church/Mt Vernon) to Bradford/Mt. Vernon)

Phase 2 (Bradford/Mt. Vernon to Forest Street/Mt. Vernon)

Phase 3 (Forest Street/Mt. Vernon to Grand Ave/Mt. Vernon)

Phase 4 (Grand Ave/Mt Vernon to Forest Lawn Blvd/Mt. Vernon)

The traffic will be reduced to one lane for Phase 1 with signed diversions and safety devices. It is proposed to close traffic to one lane for Phase 2 and 3 as well, with Phase 4 being two lanes of traffic.

This project will cause traffic congestion and we encourage everyone to avoid the area while the construction is ongoing. We also remind drivers to watch out for workers and construction equipment in the area, for the safety of everyone.
