The Ohio Third District Court of Appeals has upheld the sentence of a McGuffey man who was convicted of killing his father.
42-year-old Dustin Bolen was sentenced in April of this year to 19 years to life in prison on charges of murder, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse.
On March 31, 2024, after an argument with his father, 66-year-old Michael Bolen, the younger Bolen killed his dad then hid the body, which was found in December of that year.
Bolen’s attorney alleged that the trial court erroneously imposed consecutive sentences; failed to merge allied offenses; and accepted guilty pleas that were not knowingly, intelligently, and voluntarily entered.
The Appellate Court in its ruling on Monday overruled Assignments of Error and affirmed the trial court’s sentence.
