The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office received a number of calls Monday from people reporting phone scams.
Fraudsters are impersonating representatives, detectives, and deputies from the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office.
They are calling people and falsely claiming there’s a legal issue that you can solve with an immediate payment over the phone, which is a scam.
No legitimate law enforcement agency will ever call you demanding immediate payment for fines or fees over the phone.
If you get a call like this, hang up immediately.
Do not provide any personal or financial information, and do not attempt to make a payment.
