Benjamin Logan school officials are congratulating Benjamin Logan High School students selected to attend American Legion Buckeye Boys State. The event will be held Sunday, June 14 through Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Buckeye Boys State is one of Ohio’s premier leadership and citizenship programs. Sponsored by The American Legion, the program helps young men strengthen their civic knowledge, leadership abilities, and understanding of public service.

Students from across Ohio participate between their junior and senior years, gaining hands-on experience in the operation of democratic government, the organization of political parties, elections, civic responsibility, and the relationship between government and citizenship. The experience is also a meaningful addition to college, scholarship, and leadership applications.

This year’s Benjamin Logan delegates were encouraged to consider the opportunity after BLHS juniors attended an informational presentation led by Mr. Matt Chamberlain and several BLHS seniors. Students heard firsthand accounts of the leadership development, civic engagement experiences, and personal growth Buckeye Boys State provides. Thank you to Mr. Chamberlain for his role in helping recruit and encourage students to represent Benjamin Logan Local Schools through this valuable program.

A special moment during the 2026 program will be the final Flag Speech delivered by former Chief Counselor Carmen Scott, a 1958 Bellefontaine High School graduate and Vietnam Army veteran. His patriotic message has long been a memorable part of the Buckeye Boys State experience.
