Benjamin Logan Schools Approve New Superintendent Contract at Recent Meeting

Benjamin Logan School‘s Board of Education approved a three-year contract for a new superintendent.

At Monday evening’s meeting, the board officially hired Dr. Sean Flynn as the school’s new superintendent starting August 1.

Flynn’s annual salary will be $135,000, with a three percent increase at the beginning of the 2027-28 school year, and an increase of three percent at the begiining of the 2028-29 school year.

The school district announced Dr. Flynn’s selection last month.

He will fill the role that John Scheu has held for six years.

Scheu announced his retirement in December of 2025, and his final day of service will be July 31.

Apr 20, 2026 – Board of Education Meeting- Regular Meeting 5:30 PM

Executive Session for the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation of an employee or official

Employment of Superintendent – Sean Flynn – Contract (8-1-26 through 7-31-29)

Approval of a new student group, TPUSA Club America, in accordance with Policy 2430. Jeffey Peak announced as advisor.

Approval of the March 2026 Finance Report and other Financial Items presented by Treasurer/CFO Leah Baker

  • Bank Reconciliation and Financial Reports for March 2026
  • All bills for March 2026 and confirm they are for a proper public purpose
  • Appropriation adjustment Student Council Middle School (200/9612) to include a fundraiser for the Rally for a Cure
  • Approved Beef Promotion Grant from the Logan County Cattle Association in the amount of $300 for Jeffrey Peak
  • Approved the 2026 Rally for the Cure funds from the Middle School to be donated to Tony and Susie Grant and William and Lindsey Meddings.

Approval of the listed resignations.

  • Chris Bair- Teacher- Effective June 1, 2026 for the purpose of retirement.
  • Kimbalyn Smith- Teacher- Effective May 31, 2026 for the purpose of retirement.
  • Chelsey Webb- Teacher- Effective July 31, 2026 for personal reasons.

Approval of deduct days for Gretchen Powell May 14, 2026 (1 day).

One-Year Limited Contract (remainder of August 1, 2025 through July 31, 2026)

  • Victoria Hoffman- Custodian- Step 6- Effective March 30, 2026

One-Year Limited Contract (August 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027)

  • Jonathan Hartman- Teacher- BA/150 Step 5
  • Abigail Hemker- Teacher- BA Step 0

Approval of the listed BL substitutes for the 2025-2026 school year, contingent upon completion of all O.R.C. employment requirements.

  • Maintenance: Richard “Allen” Campbell- effective 3/20/26

Approval of the ESC substitute list for the 2025-2026 school year, contingent upon completion of all O.R.C. employment requirements at the rate of $130 per day.

Approval of the resignation of the following individual on supplemental contracts for the 2025-2026 school year.

  • Musical Orchestra Director HS- Myles Bowers effective 2025-2026 school year
  • Auditorium Manager HS- Myles Bowers  effective 3/31/2026

Approval of the following individuals on supplemental contracts for the 2025-2026 school year and be placed at the respective level of the salary schedule upon completion of all O.R.C requirements.

Approval of the classification change for Timothy Scheiderer

BE IT RESOLVED by the Benjamin Logan Local School District Board of Education that, effective the August 1, 2026 school year, Timothy Scheiderer will be paid at CLS I, Step 1.

August 1, 2026- July 31, 2027 CLS I Step 1 (year 1)

August 1, 2027- July 31, 2028 CLS I Step 1 (year 2 no change in Step)

August 1, 2028- July 31, 2029 CLS I Step 2 (year 3)

Approval of addition of Director of Building/Grounds to CLS I on Central Office Salary Schedule (previously Building & Grounds Supervisor)

Certification of 141 seniors to receive their diploma on Friday, May 22, 2026 upon satisfactory completion of the requirements of the Benjamin Logan Board of Education and the Ohio Department of Education. (Attached list)
