A box truck caught fire near downtown Kenton Thursday at around noon.
According to information from the Kenton Fire Department, welding equipment in the cargo area caught fire. The driver told firefighters that he had just finished a job in Columbus, and as he slowed down in Kenton, he smelled smoke.
He drove the truck from Detroit onto Carrol Street, and pulled to the side of the road near the entrance to the FLR Insurance Center parking lot.
The fire was contained to the cargo area, and the vehicle was able to be driven from the scene.
There were no injuries.
