In honor of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, the Hardin County Board of Developmental Disabilities shared a story about Steena and her family.
Steena has a special gift for bringing people together, often for a cause.
From organizing a kickball game that raised over $3,000 for United Way of Hardin County to hosting a lemonade stand that raised $4,200 to help eliminate negative school lunch balances, Steena is making a real impact in her community.
Her journey began when her family navigated the diagnosis of a rare chromosome duplication.
With the support of therapists and Early Intervention services, Steena continued to grow, learn, and thrive.
Now in 8th grade at Kenton Middle School, Steena is active in Special Olympics basketball, cornhole and bowling, where she has found confidence, joy, and her place to shine.
She dreams big, hoping one day to join the WNBA or become a YouTuber.
You can see her story and others on the Hardin County Board of Developmental Disabilities / Simon Kenton School Facebook page.
