Chad Thrush and Drew Cano Named Finalists for Bath Schools Superintendent

The Lima News reported Wednesday that Kenton Superintendent Chad Thrush is one of four finalists for the superintendent’s position for Bath Schools.

The superintendent, who has one year left on his contract, told WKTN today that he has notified the Kenton Board of Education about his status as a finalist with Bath Schools, but as of now, he has not submitted his resignation.

In a statement, Thrush said, “I’ve been presented with multiple opportunities in the past, but this one sparked my interest because of a potential building project very similar to our middle/high school.  Being a finalist there is a testament to the work we’ve done here.  It shows that people are noticing our culture and our growth.  Whether I am there or here, my goal is always to grow as a leader so I can better serve students and staff.  It’s always an honor to be considered for these types of roles, but I’m incredibly happy with the team we have in Kenton and the project we are finishing.”

The newspaper, which quoted Allen County Educational Service Center Superintendent Craig Kupferberg, who is assisting the Bath School board in its search, also said that outgoing Hardin Northern superintendent Andrew “Drew” Cano is another finalist.

The Hardin Northern Board of Education accepted Cano’s resignation at its February meeting, and it is effective July 31.

The two other finalists, according to the paper, are Leipsic middle school and high school principal Brian Bennett and Bath director of student services Jeremy Clark.

Kupferberg told the Lima News that interviews will take place April 14th and 15th.

The Bath Schools’ Board of Education accepted current superintendent Mike Estes’ retirement resignation in March, and it is effective July 31.
