The owners of Yankee’s Dairy Queen in Kenton gave customers an update on the status of the business Thursday evening.
The building was extensively damaged after a car plowed into it early on Thanksgiving Day in 2022.
They are currently waiting on permits to begin construction, which they are expecting to receive at some point in May.
Though they can’t say exactly when just yet, the plan is to be open at some point this season.
The kitchen area will be extended a little, but the walk-up and drive thru design will be almost identical.
They also plan to offer the same food selections.
Once open, they may stay open a little later into the season this year, but they have no plans to operate all winter.
