An 18-year-old Dayton resident who was involved in an officer involved shooting incident last month was arraigned Tuesday in Hardin County Common Pleas Court.

Jayden Shannon was found indigent, and attorney Michael Kelly was assigned to represent him.

Judge Steve Christopher set bond at $100,000 cash or surety.

If he does make bond, an ankle monitor will be required.

Shannon is charged with two counts of failing to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and one count each of obstructing official business and receiving stolen property following the incident that occurred on May 20.

The incident started in the parking lot of Ralphie’s Sports Eatery in Kenton, and continued with a police pursuit up Detroit Street, before the stolen vehicle Shannon was driving crashed into a house.

Shannon then allegedly fled the area on foot and was apprehended in the 100 block of North Market Street.

In Court Tuesday, Prosecutor Brad Bailey said it did not appear that Shannon was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident, but “that just seems to be his nature,” which is why he asked that the $75,000 bond from Municipal Court be carried over.

Judge Christopher cited Shannon’s extensive juvenile record when he increased the bond, saying that it is his duty to protect the public.

A two-day jury trial is scheduled to start on July 30.
