Defendant Facing Aggravated Murder Charge Dies Before Case Goes to Court

A man who was indicted for the murder of a Mt. Victory man in 2022 died last week, and the indictment against him was dismissed.

According to the Hardin County Common Pleas Court document, 50-year-old Anthony Allen Browne died on August 19.

As a result, the indictment on a charge of aggravated murder was dismissed, and all pending warrants were ordered recalled.

The charges were connected to the murder of Richard Whitaker Jr. on September 3 of 2022.

At the time of his death, Browne was serving a five-year prison sentence handed down in September of 2024 on two counts of illegal manufacturing of drugs.
