
A weekend crash claimed the life of one person and critically injured another over the weekend on State Route 31 at Miller Road in Union County.
According to a release from the Union County Sheriff’s Office, first responders located a Jeep Renegade that was fully engulfed in flames and Honda Civic with significant damage.
The driver of the Civic was pronounced dead at the scene.
After the fire was extinguished, the driver of the Jeep was flown to a Columbus-area trauma center.
Preliminary findings show the Civic was traveling south on 31, and the northbound Jeep crossed the centerline resulting in a head-on collision.
At this time, it is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
No names have been released at this time, and the crash remains under investigation by the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
