Marion Troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. Route 23, near milepost 10, in Marion Township, at approximately 10:23 P.M on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
The crash involved a blue 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 28-year-old Jordan Tunnicliff, of Marion. The second vehicle was a white 2026 Freightliner Cascadia pulling a white 2020 Van Guard Trailer, operated by Robert Hutchinson Jr., of Milton Freewater, Oregon.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Tunnicliff was traveling northbound on U.S. Route 23 when he crossed the median into the southbound lanes of travel and struck the rear axles of the southbound Van Guard trailer, operated by Mr. Hutchinson.
Mr. Tunnicliff was pronounced deceased at the scene and Mr. Hutchinson did not sustain any injuries from the crash. Mr. Tunnicliff was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Impairment is suspected to be a factor. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Township Fire and EMS, and the Marion County Coroner’s Office. The crash remains under investigation.
