
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik yesterday announced the approval of five projects that will create 437 new jobs and retain 315 jobs statewide.
During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The projects are expected to result in more than $29.4 million in new payroll and generate nearly $100 million investment across Ohio.
CENTRAL
Centric HC, LLC expects to create 200 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $14 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the city of Worthington (Franklin County). OPOC.us, along with its brands Centric HC and Accelwell, delivers custom benefits, real savings, and white-glove support with one fully integrated partner—combining health benefits, HR, payroll, wellness, and retirement services. The proposed project involves a headquarters expansion in the city of Worthington. TCA approved a 1.678 percent, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
NORTHEAST
The Technology House, LTD expects to create 72 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $5,362,440 in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the city of Streetsboro (Portage County) and the city of Solon (Cuyahoga County). The Technology House is a contract manufacturer specializing in advanced digital manufacturing, including 3D printing and offers services for prototyping and production using high-tech equipment. The proposed project involves Carbon 3D and Technology House onshoring its additive manufacturing capabilities. TCA approved a 1.446 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Webb Chemical Service Corporation expects to create 25 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $2 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the city of Strongsville (Cuyahoga County). Webb Chemical is a nationwide chemical distributor based in Michigan that has a fleet of tankers, trailers, and freight boxes used to transport chemicals to customers. The proposed project involves Webb Chemical purchasing a vacant building and opening operations in Strongsville. TCA approved a 1.249 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
SOUTHWEST
Ohio Valley Electrical Services, Inc. expects to create 40 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $2,875,000 in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the city of Blue Ash (Hamilton County). Ohio Valley Electrical Services is a full service commercial and industrial electrical contractor offering construction and maintenance services, engineering, electrical control panel design and manufacturing in addition to prefabrication services. The proposed project involves the company evaluating an expansion opportunity to grow its Midwest regional footprint and would involve new construction—adding significantly more space. TCA approved a 1.266 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
NORTHWEST Whirlpool Corporation expects to create 100 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $5.2 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the city of Perrysburg (Wood County). Whirlpool Corporation is a manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances such as laundry appliances, refrigerators and freezers, cooking appliances, dishwashers, mixers, and other portable household appliances. The proposed project involves Whirlpool siting a new subassembly and plastic injection molding facility to support their US manufacturing locations and increase their insourcing efforts. TCA approved a 1.312 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
