Hancock County Under Ice Storm Warning

The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning for Hancock County in our region.

Significant icing is anticipated.

Total snow and sleet accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations of one tenth to three tenths of an inch.

It is in effect until 7 AM EST Thursday Feb 13, 2025.

Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice.

Travel will be very difficult due to slippery road conditions and periodic poor visibility.

The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

In addition, a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain develops this afternoon.

The heaviest precipitation will occur this evening as precipitation transitions to primarily freezing rain.

Surfaces will rapidly become icy.

Travel is strongly discouraged, but if you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Prepare for possible power outages.

The Ohio Department of Transportation and Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission strongly encourage motorists to heed all travel restrictions and delay unnecessary travel.
