Hardin Northern 3rd grade students traveled to the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center in Lima Wednesday to watch The Lima Area Youth Orchestra.
The concert featured the music of Disney with selections from the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Sleeping Beauty, Lilo & Stitch, and Moana.
This concert gave students insight into how music impacts visuals and some of the tie-ins to social-emotional experiences.
The Lima Area Youth Orchestra (“LAYO”) is comprised of about 70 students, grades 2 through 12, from various local schools, including home schooled students. Students involved with LAYO may travel from as far away as 40 miles, and rehearse on select Sundays at Lima Senior High School.
LAYO is fronted by Joseph MacBenn and assistant director Tawnie Keen, and supported by the Lima Noon Optimists and the Lima Symphony Orchestra.
The Lima Area Youth Orchestra will also present their annual Spring Finale Concert to the public on Sunday, March 29.
It will start at 4:00 that afternoon in the Joe Henderson Auditorium at Lima Senior High School.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors.
The concert will feature music associated with all things Disney.
