On Friday, May 17 at 12:00 pm, the Hardin Northern community gathered in the auditorium to recognize students for their academic achievements. Mr. Kauffman welcomed all in attendance and thanked them for supporting the students in their most important endeavor, academics.

Teachers recognized the top students in their classes and departments. In the Foreign Language Department: Spanish I-Kendall Frank, Spanish II-Lainey Thomas, Spanish III- Carter Curtis, Spanish IV and 4 year Spanish Award- Cooper Thomas, and Mrs. Bejarano’s GRIT award- Bianca Epling.

Underclassmen will be recognized for outstanding grade point averages during the fall academic awards assembly.

The FFA and FCCLA presented a Red Cross Scholarship for $250 to Kylee Clem.

The Hardin County Community Foundation Scholarship Committee awarded an Ada Area Doctors Scholarship to Makenna Eibling.

Quest Federal Credit Union presented Makenna Eibling with a Quest Federal Credit Union Scholarship.

Hardin County Dairy Services Unit present a Scholarship to Kylee Clem.

Hardin Northern Education Association presented a $500 scholarship to Sean Kuhlman.

The Hardin Northern Scholarship Foundation presented Polar Bear Legacy Scholarships for $500 to Makenna Eibling, Sean

Kuhlman, Jenna Legge, and Cooper Thomas, a $1,000 Norma Bibler Scholarship to Caitlin Parker, and 2 $300 Robert P. Wildman

Scholarships to Carter Curtis and Caitlin Parker and 2 $500 scholarships to Jenna Legge and Kylee Clem.

The Hardin Northern Community scholarships go to senior students who apply and are going on to post secondary schooling. 8

The Daughters of the American Revolution recognized Emmah Boose as the DAR Good Citizen Award winner for Hardin Northern.

Cooper Thomas was recognized as the Hardin County Franklin B. Walter Award Winner selected by the Midwest Regional

Educational Service Center and as the Elk’s Male Teen of the Year.

Mr. Mast presented Seniors Paeghton Cook and Cooper Thomas and Juniors Preston Grappy, Mason Stewart, Justin Thiel, and Xander Wilson with NWCC All Academic awards.

Ohio gives an honors diploma to seniors that have met seven of these eight requirements: 4 units of English, 3 units of math Algebra and above, 3 units of science, 3 units of social studies, 3 units of foreign language, 3 additional units from the above, 1 unit of performing art, a 3.5 GPA or higher, and a 27 or higher on ACT. Cooper Thomas received this recognition.

The 2024 inductees into the Hall of Distinction, Mr. James M. Steele and Lt. Colonel Garrick Webb were announced. They will be formally inducted at graduation on May 19.

Hardin Northern also proudly recognized the 76 students (66% of student body) who earned college credit while attending Hardin Northern. These students completed 350 college courses and accumulated 1,098 semester hours of credit roughly valued at between $658,800 (state institution) and $1,537,200 (private institution). The credits were earned by the students at no cost to them or their parents.

Hardin Northern has offered the on-site dual credit courses for 19 years now. Over those nineteen years, we have had 751 students participate in 2,224 classes earning 7,209 semester hours of college credit. Estimated savings, between $4.3 million and $10.1 million depending on public or private institutions.
