The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning that will be in effect from 10 tonight (Thursday) until 10 Friday morning.
Sustained southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts in excess of 60 mph expected.
The damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected.
People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches.
Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected tonight, with the damaging winds being the primary severe weather threat.
However, isolated tornadoes will also be possible.
The best chance for strong to severe storms will be from 8 this evening until to 2 Friday morning.
