A woman was taken into custody in Lima after shots were fired in that city this past Tuesday night.

According to a release from the Lima Police Department, officers responded to a residence at 1112 Knollwood regarding a welfare check on a female resident.

The original caller reported hearing gunshots and requested a welfare check due to the resident’s erratic behavior.

During the course of the investigation, officers were told by witnesses that the female had fired shots into an adjacent apartment and then retreated into her own apartment.

It was later discovered she struck the windows and walls with an unknown object.

The Lima Police Department SWAT Team and Hostage Negotiation Team were activated and responded to the scene, and after several hours of attempting to make contact with the female, a search warrant was obtained and executed by the SWAT Team.

The female was located inside the apartment and taken into custody without further incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
