At the April 11th meeting of Kenton City Council Ordinance no. 22-005 was passed.
The ordinance states there may be no discharging, igniting, or exploding of fireworks in the city of Kenton. I’m sure you are now thinking to yourself ‘Now wasn’t that always a law?’ and you would be correct however when Governor DeWine signed HB 172 into law things got interesting.
HB 172 allows adults to use consumer grade fireworks on private property during New Year’s Eve and Day, Cinco de Mayo, Juneteenth, Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends and July 3, 4, 5 as well as the three-day weekends before and after July 4, Chinese New Year, and Diwali. Just not in Kenton.
