A man was issued a summons a violation of the open burn ordinance after Kenton police were dispatched to a report of large fire Wednesday evening.

According to the report, officers arrived at the house located in the 500 block of Robinson Avenue where they found a large pile of wood, trash and plastic on fire in the yard just west of the house.

The resident, identified as 50 year old Rick Lafferty, explained that he has burn report from the fire department, but officers explained to him that is only for cooking fires.

The fire was well beyond the size limit allowed and also rubbish was being burned which meant it was in violation of the open burning ordinance.
