Kenton Officials Urge Residents to Follow Recycling Guidelines

City of Kenton officials are asking residents to help keep Kenton’s recycling program working efficiently by recycling only accepted items.

Those items are plastic bottles, jugs, tubs and cups, metal cans, paper, cardboard and cartons, and glass bottles and jars.

Items that are not to be recycles are household trash, plastic bags, hoses, cords, clothing, food waste, Styrofoam, and other non-recyclable items.

City officials said that plastic bags should not be included at all. When items are bagged, the sorting machinery can’t open them, and plastic bags themselves easily tangle up and damage the recycling equipment. Everything should be left loose in your bin so it can be properly separated and processed.

Residents are reminded that when in doubt, check before you toss.
