A Lima Fire Department fire engine was struck by a semi on I‑75 earlier this week while crews were operating at an emergency scene.

While there were no injuries, Fire Department officials are using the incident to remind motorists about Ohio’s Slow Down and Move Over law.

When you see emergency lights, slow down and move over into the next lane if possible.

This gives responders space to work safely.

These steps aren’t just courteous, they are Ohio law and they save lives.

Every day, firefighters, medics, police officers, tow operators, and highway workers stand just feet away from fast‑moving traffic while helping others.
