The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction participated in a mock escape on Thursday.
Both agencies deployed their unmanned aerial systems (UAS), located the “escaped inmate” and guided a ground team to make the capture.
Video from the aerial system was sent to the communication truck for live viewing.
Also the crew in the truck was able to communicate with prison personnel on their frequencies along with all other agencies involved.
The exercise demonstrated the sheriff’s office communications truck capabilities, and prepared them in case of a real escape.
