The month of May continues to be National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reminding motorcyclists to ride trained and sober and motorists should be aware of an increase in motorcycles on the roadways.

Taking a training class, wearing safety equipment and riding with proper endorsements will help protect riders and others.

Last year, 52 percent of at-fault motorcycle drivers involved in crashes did not have a motorcycle endorsement on their license.

Motorists should give motorcyclists a full lane of travel and look for them at intersections and while changing lanes.

Motorists should also always allow plenty of space in front of their vehicle and do not follow a motorcycle too closely.
