The Ohio Department of Veterans Services (ODVS) has announced that nominations are now being accepted for the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Class of 2026. The Department encourages Ohioans to highlight former service members who continue to demonstrate exemplary service and leadership in their communities.

The Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame recognizes men and women who served honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces and who, following their military careers, have made significant contributions through public service, volunteerism, advocacy, professional achievement, or philanthropy.

Each year, up to 20 veterans are selected for induction based on recommendations from the Executive Committee of the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame and with approval from the Governor.

The deadline to submit nominations for the Class of 2026 is June 1, 2026.

Officials encourage early submissions to support timely processing and to allow for a complete and thorough review of all eligible nominations.

Ohioans are encouraged to nominate veterans who continue to exemplify a strong commitment to service in their post‑military lives. Nominations may also be submitted posthumously to honor veterans whose lasting contributions continue to positively impact our state.

To be eligible for consideration, nominees must:

  • Be a current or past Ohio resident
  • Have received an honorable discharge
  • Be of good moral character

Induction into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame is one of the state’s highest honors, recognizing individuals whose achievements extend beyond their military service and reflect a continued dedication to the betterment of Ohio’s communities.

Nomination guidelines, sample materials, and additional information are available on the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Nomination page at ohiovets.gov/nominations. A complete list of current Hall of Fame inductees can also be found on their website.
