The price of gas in Ohio is set to increase starting this Monday July 1 as the gasoline tax is added.

A tax increase of 10.5 cents per gallon was approved by the Ohio Legislature and signed into law by Governor Mike DeWine in April.

In addition, diesel fuel will increase by 19 cents per gallon.

The money will go to the Ohio Department of Transportation to help offset a nearly one billion dollar shortfall.

It is to be used for improving the state’s roads and bridges.
