**UDATE-Victims Identified** One Person Killed; Two Critically Injured in Crash on SR 309 Thursday Afternoon

One person was killed and two others seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday afternoon in the 12,000 block of State Route 309 just west of Kenton.

According to a release from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a Chevy Impala, identified as 72-year-old Dennis Covault, of Harrod, died at the scene.

A passenger in his car, 71-year-old Louise Covault, of Harrod, was extricated from the vehicle and flown to Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Chevy Malibu, identified as 28-year-old Halie Hamlin Breeden, of Kenton, was extricated and flown to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

Breeden was determined to be the at fault driver.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Kenton Police Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Kenton Fire Department, Lifeflight, BKP, McGuffey Fire, Minnich’s Towing, Hardin County Drone Team and the Hardin County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
